About Us

In post World War II Scotland, Andrew and Eileen Russell set out to transform the plumbing supply industry. Their vision from a two roomed attic all those years ago was ambitious to say the least as supplies in post war years were not abundant. However, from that modest start, Andrew and Eileen went on to build a high performance company which many of today's businesses recognise as the leader in its field.

Recognising the importance of satisfying customer demand, Andrew and Eileen began exploring other avenues such as buying in stock rather than purchasing goods for specific orders. This enabled them to supply orders much more quickly and efficiently.

Today, A&E Russell remains a family-run business, with Andrew and Eileen's son Drew at the helm. Drew became Managing Director in 1982 and continued to forge ahead, taking the first stop on the expansion trail in 1985 with the opening of our Paisley branch and with it went a plan to enter Edinburgh by establishing a depot there. We have grown since then to have eleven branches in the United Kingdom, with plans for more. In the late 1990's, Drew's son Craig also joined the business taking the company into the third generation of the Russell family.

We supply everything from contractors' tools and site equipment, geotextiles, road hazard and traffic management systems, hygiene products, protective clothing and personal protection equipment - together with Calor Gas (Scotland only) and all related Gas Fittings and Gas Appliances.
